Gil Rabinovici, MD

Principal Investigator
Neurology

Dr. Rabinovici is the Edward Fein and Pearl Landrith Endowed Professor in Memory & Aging. He received his BS degree from Stanford University and MD from Northwestern University Medical School. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Stanford University, neurology residency (and chief residency) at UCSF and a behavioral neurology fellowship at the Memory and Aging Center (MAC).

Maison Abu Raya

Specialist

I obtained my medical degree from The Rappaport Medical School of the Technion, Israel, and completed my residency in neurology at Hillel Yaffe Medical center in Israel and passed the Israeli Neurology board exams with honors in 2019.

Alinda Amuiri

Clinical Research Coordinator
Neurology

Alinda is an East Bay native and graduated from the Xavier University of Louisiana in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She now works as a Clinical Research Coordinator to help support and coordinate the research studies in the Rabinovici Lab and the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.

Miranda Chen

Clinical Research Coordinator
Neurology

Miranda was born and raised in Palo Alto, California, and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. She is now working as a Clinical Research Coordinator in the Rabinovici Lab to help coordinate the New IDEAS study as well as other studies examining the utility of innovative neuroimaging techniques and other biomarkers for the improved diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.

Gillian Chen

Administrative Officer II
Neurology

I am an administrative assistant for Dr. Gil Rabinovici (and Dr. Howie Rosen). I help assist with the administrative needs for him and his lab. I also manage his scheduling, travel, and other miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Renaud La Joie, PhD

Assistant Professor
Neurology

I originally trained in Neuroscience, Neuropsychology, and Neuroimaging in France before moving to California for my post-doctoral fellowship at UC Berkeley and then at the UCSF memory and aging center. I love to combine multimodal neuroimaging techniques, fluid biomarkers, and neuropsychological measures to study the natural history of Alzheimer’s disease and other age-associated neurodegenerative diseases. My overarching goal is to understand the drivers of clinical heterogeneity and improve our ability to provide patients with a precise diagnosis and prognosis.

Julien Lagarde, PhD, MD

Visiting Scholar

I am a neurologist specializing in cognitive neurodegenerative diseases, neuroimaging and biomarkers, and a visiting scholar at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center in the RabLab. In addition to a clinical experience in neurodegenerative diseases acquired in the Neurology of memory and language department headed by Prof. Marie Sarazin at Sainte-Anne hospital in Paris, I developed an early interest in clinical research, which led me to obtain a MSc in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience at the Université Paris VI.

Piyush Maiti, MS

Neuroimaging Data Analyst
Neurology

Piyush is a Neuroimaging Data analyst at RabLab, with experience in medical imaging. He obtained his Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from India.

Jhony Mejia Perez

Neuroimaging Data Analyst
Neurology

Jhony is a Neuroimaging Data Analyst at RabLab. He completed his Bachelor in Biomedical Engineering at Universidad de Los Andes, Colombia. Prior to joining the lab, he analyzed EEG, EMG, and MRI data in the fields of social neuroscience and dementia at the Social Neuroscience Research Group (Colombia), RedLat (Argentina), and BrainLat (Chile).

His main research interest is the usage of multimodal neuroimaging techniques for the diagnosis and prognosis of dementias.

Outside academia, Jhony is a vivid football fan and salsa dancing enthusiast.

Salma Rocha

Clinical Research Coordinator
Neurology

Salma was born and raised in Orange County, California. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular and Cell Biology: Neurobiology and Spanish Linguistics. She is now working as an Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator to aid with various studies related to Alzheimer's disease in the Rabinovici Lab.

Daniel Schonhaut, PhD

Research Scientist
Neurology

I completed my PhD in neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania in 2022, with work decoding time and space from single-neuron activity in hospital patients undergoing intracranial electrode implantation. As a research scientist at the Memory and Aging Center, I help coordinate activities in the PET imaging core and conduct independent research on PET biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease, with a focus on early-onset and atypical clinical variants alongside longitudinal modeling of disease progression.

Ranjani Shankar

Clinical Research Coordinator
Neurology

Ranjani works to coordinate research studies in Dr. Rabinovici’s lab and the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.
