Maison Abu Raya, MD
I obtained my medical degree from The Rappaport Medical School of the Technion, Israel, and completed my residency in neurology at Hillel Yaffe Medical center in Israel and passed the Israeli Neurology board exams with honors in 2019.
My professional journey includes serving as an attending neurologist at the neurology department at Hillel Yaffe Hospital with additional training in the Neuroimmunology Unit in Hadassah Medical center in Jerusalem. In 2021, I joined the Cognitive disorders Unit at Rambam Medical Campus in Israel as an attending physician and clinical fellow in behavioral neurology. I also served as a neurology consultant specialist at community national health services in Israel, providing neurological care for diverse Israeli populations. As a neurologist specializing in Neurodegenerative diseases, I am highly interested in understanding the socio-biological determinants of disparities in AD and related dementia.
In 2022, I joined the Global Brain Health Institute- UCSF as an Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health. This experience has provided me with invaluable insights and a broader perspective on how to leverage medicine and neuroscience for societal benefit.
My current research is dedicated to investigating gender and ethno-racial disparities in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias with emphasis on disparities in fluid and imaging biomarkers.
My goal is to extend my clinical skills into the realms of research, policy development, and advocacy. In doing so, I aspire to contribute significantly to the advancement of brain healthcare, promote equity, and empower individuals and communities affected by dementia.
