Marianne's multi-site PCA paper out in The Lancet Neurology!

Marianne Chapleau led a multi-site manuscript aiming to characterize Posterior Cortical Atrohpy (PCA). PCA is a rare manifestation of AD, so far studied in small sample local cohorts. Marianne gathered data from 36 research centres in 16 countries to have a more representative sample of PCA. She found PCA is characterized by relatively young onset of symptoms (59.4yo) and more prevalent in women (60%). Availability of Amyloid measurement varied by site, as well as rates of positivity: amyloid β CSF (81%), phosphorylated tau CSF (65%) and amyloid PET (94%). Post-mortem was available in a subset of subjects, and showed that the most common pathology was Alzheimer's Disease (94%), with cerebral amyloid angiopathy as a common co-morbidity (71%). Marianne also describes the most common cognitive and neuropsychiatric domains impaired.

Impressive work both scientificially and logistically to better characterize rare forms of dementia!
